Craft Month | National Heritage Week

As I embark on Craft Month, I am reminded of the winding road that has led me to where I am today - passionate and driven by a desire to share my love for skincare with the world. It's a celebration of creativity and self-care, where my passions come together in perfect harmony. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, twists and turns, but it's been worth it to get to this point.

One of the most rewarding aspects of running a handmade business is the ability to tailor products to individual needs. Whether it's catering to specific skin types, allergies, or preferences, I relish the opportunity to work closely with customers to create bespoke blends that address their unique concerns. This collaborative process brings me immense joy and satisfaction, knowing that I'm helping people find products that truly work for them. There's something special about watching someone try a new product and seeing the look of delight on their face when they realise it's exactly what they've been searching for.

As I step into my cozy studio, surrounded by the intoxicating aroma of essential oils, I am filled with gratitude for the rich cultural heritage that has shaped me into the person I am today. Growing up, I was instilled with a deep respect for preserving our cultural roots and embracing our unique identity.

When I started my skincare journey, I knew I wanted to infuse my products with the essence of my cultural heritage. Hawthorn Handmade Skin Care is not just a business – it's an extension of who I am as an individual. Every decision we make, from sourcing locally sourced ingredients to using eco-friendly packaging, is driven by our commitment to authenticity and integrity.

At Hawthorn, we are deeply committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Our farm is situated within an officially designated Area of Special Conservation and Natural Heritage Area, which inspires us daily to protect and preserve the breathtaking natural beauty surrounding us, including the shores of Lough Carra. This stunning landscape reminds us of the importance of honouring the biodiversity that thrives within our ecosystem. We believe that taking care of our planet is not only crucial for our own well-being but also for future generations.

As I look around my studio, at the rows of carefully crafted skincare products and the lush greenery that fills every corner, I am reminded of the journey that has brought me here. It's been a path filled with hard work, dedication, and passion, but also one that has allowed me to stay true to myself and my values. As I celebrate Craft Month, I am grateful for this opportunity to share my story with you and to inspire others to follow their own creative paths.
